Our Family Fishing Lesson is a 2.5-hour interactive class designed to teach your family the essentials of fishing while creating unforgettable memories together. Perfect for beginners and families of all experience levels, this lesson will give you the confidence to cast your lines and enjoy fishing on your own.
What Your Family Will Learn
In this fun and educational session, your family will discover:
Fishing Gear Basics: Get hands-on experience with rods, reels, rigs, weights, and other equipment.
Safety Measures: Learn how to keep everyone safe while fishing.
Bait Selection: Explore the best bait options for fishing on Bald Head Island.
Fish Identification: Understand the different species of fish on BHI and how to identify them.
Catch and Release Techniques: Practice proper methods to release fish responsibly.
Casting Nets: Learn how to cast nets and catch live bait fish (when conditions allow).
Tailored for Your Family
Designed for families of up to five (two adults and up to three kids), this lesson is inclusive and stress-free. No prior experience is necessary, and we provide all the gear and setup, so you can focus on having fun and learning together. Lessons' locations may be selected for either the inshore or surf fishing experience.
Weather Policy
Your safety is our priority. We monitor weather conditions closely and will relocate from the beach if lightning is detected within 10 miles. A little rain won’t stop the lesson—after all, fish love water, and so do we!
Pricing
$225 per family (up to two adults and three kids).
Important Note
If you’re over 16 and plan to fish, you’ll need a North Carolina fishing license. Don’t have one? No problem—you can still join in the fun and participate in other aspects of the lesson. For more information, visit North Carolina Fishing License.
